History

Antique Pedestal Singing Bowls are one-of-a-kind masterpieces. The sound bowls are forged in two parts, the bowl itself and the pedestal (hence the name), upon which the bowl is fixed to give it stability and elegance. Their origins and use remain largely unknown. They could have been used for temple ceremonies, musical events or spiritual rituals. They are renowned for their strikingly bright and resonant tones.

About our Pedestal Singing Bowls

Our antique pedestal singing bowls are handmade from bronze in Nepal during the 19th century. Each bowl is a timeless piece of art and a vessel for sound.

Our small collection of pedestal singing bowls comes with a top diameter of between 18 and 19 cm, weighing between 1.1 and 1.4 kg.

Ever wondered what makes pedestal singing bowls different from the others ?

Because of its unique stem design, shape and self-amplifying nature. Characterised by their bulbous form, these bowls expand outward at the middle, tapering slightly toward the rim. Held by the pedestal, they can be played from any angle — upright, sideways, or even upside down. Their rounded form produces a rich, sustained tone layered with harmonious overtones.

    Usage

Pedestal singing bowls are primarily used in sound healing or therapy sessions to promote chakra balancing and create a sense of inner peace thanks to their unique design, ease of use and long-lasting tones. They can also be used to hold ritual items when not in use.

What's included with the bowl ?

Each pedestal singing bowl comes with a wooden mallet. This allows you to play the bowl and enjoy its rich, resonant sound as soon as you receive it.

To learn a bit more about singing bowls, here is some information that can be helpful.

    Sound

The sound of the singing bowls are recorded using our Red Wool Head Mallet Striker, our Lingam Mallet Striker, or both by striking and rimming the bowl to give you a real feel for its sound.

    Care

To keep your handmade singing bowl sounding beautiful and lasting for years, a little mindful care makes all the difference. Gently wipe it from time to time using a soft fiber cloth with lukewarm or cold water. Avoid chemical cleaners or abrasive materials that could damage its surface. Store your singing bowl in a dust-free space, and always handle it with care. Never drop or strike it on hard surfaces. With a bit of love and attention, your singing bowl will remain a trusted companion in your meditation, sound healing, or spiritual practice.

My warmest recommendation. I had been looking for a singing bowl for a long time, but it can be difficult online. However, Prajaya made the decision and purchase safe and easy. When I had a few final questions, I wrote them an email, which was answered quickly and in detail. I have now received the bowl, and the quality and sound are excellent. THANK YOU
