History

Lingam Tibetan singing bowls trace back to the 16ᵗʰ century, making them some of the oldest Himalayan sound bowls in Tibet and Nepal. Since ancient times, they were used in spiritual rituals, sound healing practices and temple ceremonies. The bowls carry deep symbolic meaning, making them one of a kind. The bowl has a raised cone, known as the lingam, in the centre of the inner base, representing a symbol of the sacred masculine and creative energy. It is this distinct feature that gives the bowl its name. They are renowned for their superior sound quality.

About our Lingam Singing Bowl

Each of our modern Lingam singing bowls are handcrafted from bronze by a small team of skilled Newari artisans in Nepal. They follow time-honoured hand-hammering techniques that have been passed down through generations, ensuring that each bowl is both a work of art and a vessel for sound.

These heavy, thick-walled singing bowls produce a rich, clear and grounding tone that resonates deeply and lingers. This makes them extremely easy to play. They produce a sound with multiple harmonics that can be heard and felt.

Our small collection of Lingam sound bowls includes a variety of sizes and top diameters. They have a top diameter of between 20 and 23 cm and weigh between 1.3 and 1.8 kg.

    Usage

Lingam Tibetan Singing Bowls are often used in yoga and meditation sessions, as well as in sound healing or therapy sessions, to support chakra balancing and create a sense of inner peace. The tones produced by the bowl can help to calm the mind, clear stagnant energy and make space for stillness and reflection. This promotes peace of mind and relaxation, and reduces stress and anxiety. They are deeply respected by seekers and sound practitioners alike.

What's included with the bowl ?

Each Tibetan singing bowl from the Lingam collection comes with a soft, hand-stitched round-shaped cushion and a wooden mallet, allowing you to easily play the bowl and enjoy its rich, resonant sound.

To learn a bit more about singing bowls, here is some information that can be helpful.

    Sound

The sound of the singing bowls are recorded using our Red Wool Head Mallet Striker, our Lingam Mallet Striker, or both by striking and rimming the bowl to give you a real feel for its sound.

    Care

To keep your handmade singing bowl sounding beautiful and lasting for years, a little mindful care makes all the difference. Gently wipe it from time to time using a soft fiber cloth with lukewarm or cold water. Avoid chemical cleaners or abrasive materials that could damage its surface. Store your singing bowl in a dust-free space, and always handle it with care. Never drop or strike it on hard surfaces. With a bit of love and attention, your singing bowl will remain a trusted companion in your meditation, sound healing, or spiritual practice.

My warmest recommendation. I had been looking for a singing bowl for a long time, but it can be difficult online. However, Prajaya made the decision and purchase safe and easy. When I had a few final questions, I wrote them an email, which was answered quickly and in detail. I have now received the bowl, and the quality and sound are excellent. THANK YOU
